Social Skills

Social skills are rules that exist to help people relate to one another in a positive way.

3 Times to Say "Excuse Me"
1. When you need to interrupt.
2. When you need someone to move out of the way.
3. When you make an impolite sound.
Note: Impolite sound = one that could be offensive to another person.


3 Times to Say "Thank You"
1. When someone gives you something.
2. When someone does something for you.
3. When someone compliments you.


Leadership

Leaders:
1. See the needs of others and consider them important.
2. Stand on the side of truth even if they stand alone.
3. Act on behalf of another even if they are inconvenienced.


Service to Others / Making Sacrifices

A sacrifice is an act of giving something up in order to gain something equally as good or better.

Teach the skill of Serving Others/ Making Sacrifices to:
1. Teach children how to view things from another person's perspective.

2. Give children opportunities to move out of their comfort zone.
3. Develop the pattern of volunteering.
4. Teach children how goals are often reached by sacrificing.
5. Curb self-centeredness and the "What's in it for me?" attitude.
