*As a staff member at St. Patrick’s, I recognize the value of modeling the skills of self discipline for children, parents, and other staff members. I promise to…
Listening:
…model the steps of listening when I communicate with others. I will make eye contact with the person I am listening to and paraphrase what I heard. I will avoid engaging in unnecessary conversations during meetings.
Following Instructions:
…follow the guidelines outlined in the staff handbook. I will honor all deadlines and return paperwork to the office and to my students in a timely fashion. I will check my mailbox, email and staff calendar twice daily.
Asking Questions:
… ask pertinent questions in a respectful way at an appropriate time. I will use email communication when appropriate.
Sharing: Time, space, people and things
… respect that St. Patrick’s School resources are limited and must be shared for the good of the community. I will use the space/items and be sure they are returned in a respectful way. I will share my talents so that others in our community see me as a resource.
Social Skills:
… respect the opinions of all staff members and celebrate the gifts they bring to our school. I will display a positive attitude in all I do. I will demonstrate a willingness to think of others first.
Cooperation:
… actively contribute to support the growth of our school by being positive, flexible, and engaging with an open mind.
Reasons for Rules:
… uphold the rules and expectations as outlined in our staff and family handbooks. I will correct the behavior of any student not following those expectations and will be supportive of any staff person correcting students in my care.
Completing a Task:
… efficiently complete tasks given to me by the principal, committee members, staff members, or peers. I will complete tasks required for the development of my students in a timely manner.
Leadership:
…be accountable as a role model for others with Christ as my example. I will stand on the side of truth even if I stand alone to portray the positive image of St. Patrick’s School, its students, and staff members.
Communication:
… be positive in my communication, both verbal and nonverbal to parents, other staff members, and to all students. I will refrain from gossip.
Organization: Time, space, people and things
… respect the time of others by adhering to all schedules. I will set a good example by keeping classroom space organized.
Resolving Problems:
… discuss concerns in a private, productive, and respectful manner with the person involved and offer a solution or my assistance to resolve the issue. I will be respectful of other’s opinions.
Initiating Solutions:
… go to the source of a problem or seek the assistance of the principal or counselor to resolve concerns or conflicts. I will seek ways to improve my personal and professional skills.
Fact vs. Feeling:
… refrain from voicing concerns when my emotions are too strong.
Making Sacrifices:
… realize that sometimes for the greater good of the school community, I may have to sacrifice
